The Department of English is requesting applications for a Sessional Lecturer for Term 2 of the academic year 2017-2018 to teach one 3-credit section of ENGL 323 “Varieties of English,” a course focused upon the study of geographical, social, and/or urban dialects of English. The Department preference is for a section that addresses world Englishes with an emphasis on Canadian English.
Applicants should have a complete or near-complete PhD in English language or linguistics, with successful teaching experience in the field. Applicants from both inside and outside UBC are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should include with their letter of application:

- a curriculum vitae (detailing post-secondary teaching experience)
- recent teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness

Positions are subject to final budgetary approval and are governed by UBC’s “Agreement on Conditions of Appointment for Sessional Faculty Members.” The current minimum salary is $6,516.08 per 3-credit course.
