Brendan is SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholar and Doctoral Teaching Fellow in English at UBC, where he specializes in Canadian literatures and Indigenous literary/critical studies. His research historicizes the intersections of these fields as disciplines of study in relation to discrepant literary nationalisms, discourses of multiculturalism, and public policy. He is also interested in pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning. In 2017, Brendan was a recipient of the Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award for the Faculty of Arts. He works as Assistant Editor at the journal Canadian Literature, and is also a contributing author and production assistant with the CanLitGuides.ca open-access educational resource project.
