4. Rhetorical Theory (ENGL 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311)

Category 2: (6 credits of Literature courses) REQUIRED
One course in Literature before 1900   (ENGL 343-369)One course in Literature after 1900   (ENGL 462-478)

Majors seminar, ENGL 490.

ENGL 490 can sometimes also fulfill requirements in Groups A and B and Canadian literature.

Students may take only one Majors Seminar

Category 3: (3 credits) REQUIRED

• Majors Seminar: Language (ENGL 489)

ENGL 489 can sometimes also fulfill requirements in Category 2.

Students may take only one Majors Seminar

Category 3: (12 credits) REQUIRED

Two courses selected from all other Language courses (ENGL 307-340)

Two courses selected from all other Literature courses (ENGL 343-480)

The remaining credits can be chosen from Groups A through F with a maximum of 6 credits in Group F (ENGL 304 – 340).

With the permission of an Advisor, up to 6 credits of literature courses outside the Department can be counted towards the Major.

Category 4: (6 credits) OPTIONAL

• English literature or composition (ENGL 304, 349, 354, 357-364, 369-480)

• Selected courses outside the Department of English (ANTH 417, AUDI 400, LING 300, 311, 319, 327, 445, LLED 478, PHIL 425, PSYC 336)

Category 4: (3 credits) REQUIRED

One Majors seminar: either the Language Seminar (ENGL 489) or the Literature seminar (ENGL 490)
