 e Department of East Asian Studies\, McGill University</em></p><p>Yuriko Fu
 ruhata is a Professor and a former William Dawson Scholar of Cinema and Med
 ia History (2015-2025) in the Department of East Asian Studies\, and an ass
 ociate member of the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at
  McGill University. Her first book\, <em>Cinema of Actuality: Japanese Avan
 t-Garde Filmmaking in the Season of Image Politics </em>(Duke University Pr
 ess\, 2013)\, won the Best First Book Award from the Society of Cinema and 
 Media Studies. Her second book\,<em> Climatic Media: Transpacific Experimen
 ts in Atmospheric Control</em> (Duke University Press\, 2022)\, explores th
 e geopolitical conditions underpinning environmental art\, weather control\
 , digital computing\, and cybernetic architecture in Japan and the United S
 tates. Her third book\, <em>Archipelagic Archives of the Anthropocene: Visu
 al Grammars of Deep Time </em>(forthcoming from Duke University Press) exam
 ines sets of scientific atlases\, photographs\, and films of fossils\, clou
 ds\, snow crystals\, and corals in relation to the settler colonial histori
 es of geosciences in Japan\, the Pacific\, and North America. She is curren
 tly working on a new project on the media history of celestial navigation a
