  Department of English Language and Literatures offers a broad and balanced
  curriculum featuring historical\, national\, and transnational literatures
 \, cultural studies\, genre studies\, theory\, media\, rhetoric\, and Engli
 sh linguistics. In English\, you can custom-tailor a program that reflects 
 your interests and which explores literatures\, media\, and language from t
 he English-speaking world. You can learn about a fantastic variety of topic
 s\, from Old English to Canadian English\, from medieval ecology to Indigen
 ous science fiction\, from the history of dictionaries to the influence of 
 texting\, from Shakespeare in film to transsexuality in television\; from a
 ncient rhetorical theory to cognitive approaches to language today. All Eng
 lish undergraduate programs prepare you for any profession in which analyti
 cal thinking and communication are essential.</p><div class=""><span class=
