This series—which runs from Fall 2026 to Spring 2027—features five public lectures by scholars conducting inventive research at the intersections of environmental humanities, science and technology studies, media theory, race and ethnicity, and critical Indigenous studies. The series is interested in inquiries that expand our conceptualizations of media and mediation.
What entangled forms of scientific and technological thinking might be contended with or excavated if we examine the legacies of empire and settler colonialism as media histories? How does turning to the concept and materiality of mediation in environments, ecologies, and everyday infrastructures expand our models of knowledge production and our analyses of power? The lectures hosted by this series offer pressing inquiries into these questions, providing insights and important context for our contemporary juncture of overlapping climate disaster, techno-capitalism, and global capitalism.
