CWILA (Canadian Women in the Literary Arts) is an inclusive national literary organization for people who share feminist values and see the importance of gender equity in Canadian literary culture. CWILA strives to promote and foster equity and equality of representation in the Canadian literary community by tracking statistics on gender representation in book reviewing; bringing relevant issues of gender, race, and sexuality into our national literary conversation; and creating a network supportive of the active careers of women, transgender, and non-binary writers. CWILA directly supports criticism that promotes public awareness of women’s literary and critical presence in Canada through our annual Critic-in-Residence program.
