Scholar and Writer Dr. Jordy Rosenberg Joins UBC English Language & Literatures

UBC English Language & Literatures is pleased to welcome Dr. Jordy Rosenberg, writer and 18th century scholar.

Jordy Rosenberg is the author of the novel Confessions of the Fox and the forthcoming hybrid work Good Material (Random House/One World). He is also the author of the scholarly monograph, Critical Enthusiasm: Capital Accumulation and the Transformation of Religious Passion.

Confessions of the Fox was a New York Times Editors Choice selection. It was shortlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, a Lambda Literary Award, a Publishing Triangle Award, the UK Historical Writers Association Debut Crown Award, and longlisted for The Dublin Literary Award.  Confessions has been recognized as one of the Best Books of 2018 by The New Yorker, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Kirkus Reviews, LitHub, Electric Literature and Feminist Press, among other publications. It has been published by Atlantic Books in the UK, Allen & Unwin in Australia/New Zealand, and Paseka in Czechia. 

Jordy’s work has been supported by fellowships and residencies from The Lannan Foundation, The Ahmanson-Getty Foundation, the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University, the Clarion Foundation’s Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers’ Workshop, and the UCLA Center for 17th- and 18th-Century Studies.

He is the co-editor, with Amy Villarejo, of Queer Studies and the Crises of Capitalism, and with Chi-ming Yang, of The Dispossessed Eighteenth Century.
