About
Patrick Li received his BA in English Literature and Language from UBC. He is currently continuing his education at UBC as a MA student in English. His research interests lie in Marxist literary criticism, a versatile methodology that revolves around the notion that every literary text is an inherently social product of its own historical moment that works to manufacture new, or perpetuate existing ideologies. Through these ideologies, certain social hierarchies of power, otherwise known as hegemonies, are created. Patrick seeks to critique these hegemonies within society through synthesizing close readings of global literatures with philosophical theories.
Outside of the MA program, Patrick works as the co-editor-in-chief of the UBC Philosophy Students’ Association’s Journal of Philosophical Enquiries, an academic journal under the UBC Department of Philosophy that is dedicated to publishing outstanding writing and research in philosophy and other contiguous disciplines from students at UBC and universities all over the world.
