2016 Fairclough Teaching Prize Recipient

The winner of this year’s Fairclough Prize is Dr. Brett Grubisic. Brett has been a highly effective and popular teacher in the Department of English since 2001, earning remarkable praise from students for his obvious investment in their success. He has also published widely in both critical and creative modes, with three novels, two edited anthologies, two monographs, and three co-edited critical collections. He is a creative, collegial, and highly productive member of the department, and it is a great pleasure to congratulate him on this newest achievement.

The Ian Fairclough Teaching Prize is awarded annually to a sessional lecturer in the Department of English and/or the UBC Writing Centre. The Prize was established in 1996 as a memorial to Ian W. Fairclough (1951-1995), who obtained his BA (Hons.) and MA in the Department of English, and taught as a sessional lecturer for a number of years both in the Department of English and in the UBC Writing Centre.
