Dalhousie University, MA, PhD

Originally from Nova Scotia, I moved to Vancouver in 1997 to teach at UBC. My teaching and research interests include 19th-21st century literary and cultural studies; the Gothic inheritance, especially in Victorian/neo-Victorian literature and popular culture; dystopian and post-apocalyptic narratives; the contemporary bildungsroman; and composition including technical writing. I am co-editor, with Brett Grubisic and Tara Lee, of Blast, Corrupt, Dismantle, Erase: Contemporary North American Dystopian Literature (WLUP 2014) and am currently preparing a Broadview Anthology of British Literature edition of Sheridan LeFanu’s Carmilla.
