Book History, Digital Humanities and Media StudiesMy teaching, research, and supervisions are in the area of media theory. In addition to media studies, I have published broadly, on Italian Futurism, Cold War cultural politics, sexuality and nationalism, media anthropology, and West Coast modern architecture. My most recent book, The Explorations of Edmund Snow Carpenter: Anthropology Upside Down, received the McLuhan Award for Outstanding Book of 2024 from the Media Ecology Association, and my first book, McLuhan in Space (UTP 2002), will be published in translation by the Communication University Press (Beijing) in 2026.
